4 Logo Collection

All of the head phones were left out. If this happens again, no head phones will be made available to people to use. They get taken and damaged by other classes. There are several more tutorials coming up, so plan to put away the headphones in the future.
  • White on Black Logo design finished up
  • Spot Color and Pantone Color next
  • Finish up Traced Scans-I will start grading these during break.
  • Turn-in your Gallery Walk feedback from Thursday.

Master Path & Peer Feedback


Work on your tracing until 8:10.

Next:
You will need your sketches:
  • Look through your sketches and find a design that meets the following criteria:
    • clear message about the type of business-Graphic Design for this assignment (required for full credit).
    • eye catching
    • memorable
  • You will have 20 minutes on the Master Path (Master Path-defined as a black on white design used by graphic designers to create collection of designs based on the same logo) .
    • Open an Illustrator document set to 8.5" x 11"
    • Select a font close to the sketch you have chosen.
    • Set the type size to 200 pt
    • Type out your letters (don't not drag out a text box. Simply click and type) and apply create outlines once the spelling is double checked. A tracing is another option using a scan and the pen tool.
    • Move the anchor points to reshape the letters to fit your design. 
    • Move the letters to the position that you want using the direct selection arrow (the white one)

  • Gallery Walk Activity
    • Working with your row of 3 to 4 rowmates (the 5 students closest to the walls will work together), leave out a piece of paper to give advice to each rowmate on the following topics:
      • Clarity of the business message (does it tell you they are a graphic designers?)
      • Is the arrangement dynamic? (Explain why or why not. If not, what do you recommend?)
      • Is it a black on white typographic logo? (explain the changes needed to improve the design)
  • Make adjustments based on the feedback from the Gallery Walk and be sure to save your work into your H drive.
The remaining time can be spent on the tracing and the tracing game from yesterday.
